School Daze: Proud “Mama” Shares Student’s Work
Yes, I am the proud “mama”. Here’s a opinion piece one of my Baruch College “Writing for Public Relations” students wrote for the course blog which was subsequently published in the student newspaper, The Ticker.
In “Us Weekly or U.S. Weakly?,” Timothy Chan discusses the effect the celebrity culture has on the development of young minds.
Here’s an excerpt:
“My next door neighbor is a smart, graceful and witty 16-year-old. She ranks high in her school honor roll, pitches for her school varsity softball team and has an active role in student government. She thinks global warming is terrible and she believes the war in Iraq is wrong and unjust. She also thinks that Condi Rice is a brand of rice you buy to heat up in the microwave and that Alan Greenspan is a game show host.”
Check it out. “Mama” says so. Here’s the link: http://media.www.theticker.org/media/storage/paper909/news/2007/11/05/Opinion/Us.Weekly.Or.U.s.Weakly-3077611.shtml
