I don’t know what this has to do with anything but this “news” item was brought to my attention by one of my students. It’s the kind of thing that when hearing of it, you do don’t know whether to laugh or — in this case — throw up in you mouth. Well, It looks like the crazy ass animal rights group, PETA has pulled one stunt too far by asking the ice cream company,Ben and Jerry’s, to use human breast milk in the manufacturing of their products.
Yes, you read correctly. They want B&J’s to use breast milk so that eating your favorite ice cream will help you conjure up memories of sucking on your mother’s breast. (I am too scared if you actually have a memory of that). I guess it would be a nice way for lactating mothers to earn some extra cash during these difficult economic times. Maybe the US can trade tittay milk on the commodities exchange.
I see you, (Calm down. I can’t, but I like to pretend that I can.) you think that I am lying. I’m not and here’s the evidence from a recent news report:
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow’s milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.
“PETA’s request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow’s milk in the food he serves,” the statement says.
PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health. (Source)
And what was the company’s response to this crazy request? Here it is:
In a statement Ben and Jerry’s said, “We applaud PETA’s novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother’s milk is best used for her child.” [My translation: “That’s the craziest idea we’ve ever heard and we’ve heard some crazy ish. Hell no!! What the f**k is your problem? Tittay milk is for babies not grown folks.] (source)

I decided to Twitter about PETA and received a notice that they are “following” me. How gangsta.
