Fired! Wendy Williams’ Co-host Charlamagne tha God is a Mere Mortal (UPDATE 2 – Fired Again)

Here’s something to go with your morning coffee or, in my case, green tea.  According to news reports, much of the production staff of NY-based shock jock Wendy Williams’ syndicated radio show has been fired. Included on the list of people shown the door is her co-host Charlamagne tha God. (source)

Here’s what Miss Wendy had say to the New York Times (Me: When did the NYT get all up in her bizness?):

Ms. Williams said…the firings had been the decision of WBLS, which is cutting costs. (Me: To pay for the settlement of the sexual harassment lawsuit against the station, Wendy Williams and her husband, Kevin Hunter). Check out an earlier post on the matter.) In an e-mail message on Friday, Ms. Williams said she first learned of Charlamagne’s firing on Monday, adding, “I was disappointed in their decision not to have him on the show but I’m not worried about his ability to go on and do very well for himself — he’s a true friend and continues to be an important member of the team and will be on my TV show this summer.” (Me: Oh, great. NOT!) (source)

The Wendy Williams Show is slated to return on FOX affiliates on July 13, 2009.

UPDATE

Charlamagne tha God was hired by WPHI 100.3 “The Beat” in Philadelphia.

UPDATE #2

Charlamagne tha God announced, on Monday, November 2, 2009, via Twitter (@cthagod) that he was fired from “The Beat” -“I just got fired from 100.3 The Beat in Philly. Salute to Philly I hope you all enjoyed me the past 6 months.”

  1. Read my blog about the inching out of Wendy. I like her too. But sometimes Charlemagne was TOOO MUCH! Too brash and too harsh to the calling listeners. To much and sometimes over bearing. It would annoy me. I liked Wendy….but they were a good team. He was alright….I met them both in Bayside at Bay Terrace Barnes and Noble.

Oh, well, I hope Wendy can stay on top and keep up her journalistic ability. She does not need a side kick…She needs to be herself!

It was funny when she had PAUL MOONEY on….she did not need a sick kick….Just being oneself can make a difference in a negative situation.
