You know I like to joke around but some things are no laughing matter. MTV is known for many things — some considered great, others questionable. Think what you will about MTV, its willingness to address difficult subjects head on, subjects that speak directly to their target audience — teens and young adults — is unparalleled.
So, I was not surprised and quite pleased to learn that MTV is taking the opportunity to address the issue of domestic violence using the recent arrest of singer Chris Brown for assault against alleged victim and girlfriend, singer Rihanna as a catalyst to engage in a discussion that speaks to both the specific — their relationship and careers — and to the general — how domestic violence can or does have an impact on our lives.
I will be watching Chris Brown & Rihanna: Love in Trouble (premiering Monday, Feb 16 at 6 p.m. EASTERN). I hope you will do the same.
