You always remember your first, or so they say. I know I will always remember my first New York Fashion Week experience. I wasn’t under the tents at Bryant Park but in the lovely (and warm) SoHo Grand Hotel at fashion designer Katie Gallagher’s presentation of her Fall/Winter 2010 collection, “The Heart of the Woods and What I Found There”. From the look of the looks in the collection, it seems Katie found some interesting nymphs.
Wearing silk dresses over leggings and under wool and leather jackets, the models walked into the lounge and stood in a perfect line affording photographers, guests, and fashion aficionados an up close view of the collection. No, there wasn’t the oft-mentioned, and highly stratified “seating chart”. The entire scene was quite egalitarian. Just the way I like it.
Back in November, before she became the “Talent to Watch” in the March 2010 issue of Elle magazine, The Ride chatted with Katie. For that Q&A, click here.
